About

Institute Music Publishing has been set up in 2021 by the umbrella not-for-profit company Someone Great which is affiliated with BIMM Manchester.

The premise of the publishing company is two fold:

  1. To provide an entry level publishing administration service for BIMM writers, producers and artists.

  2. To create an active business environment for educating BIMM students in the roles and tasks of a music publisher.

The team has a high level of experience in all aspects of music publishing and aim to sign the best new songwriting talent across the BIMM colleges to Institute Music Publishing. Through this process, we will educate and nurture the most promising BIMM students and equip them with the skills required to work at a music publishing company or performing rights organisation.

The Team

Ellie Kading

Ellie graduated from Gateway School of Recording, Kingston University with a Diploma in Recording, Music Technology and Business Studies in 1997. Joining Sony/ATV Music Publishing a year later as their Junior Copyright Assistant, the years that followed were spent predominantly in Copyright and Licensing for a variety of both major and independent music companies, BMG Music Publishing, MCS Music, BMG Chrysalis and the BBC. With a steady career progression culminating in setting up and running global administration departments, Ellie was approached by Ronnie Lane’s Estate to oversee the Slim Chance Catalogue. This was the ideal opportunity to set up her own company, which has continued to grow, and as a client base as diverse as music itself. Ellie has also spent time managing a recording studio, engineering small live gigs and teaching.
